Rajiv Mehrishi

Shri Rajiv Mehrishi holds a degree in business administration from Strathclyde Business School, Glasgow. His earlier degrees of BA (History) and MA (History) were from the St. Stephen’s College. He married to Ms. Mira also an IAS officer now retired.

Shashi Kant Sharma

Shri Shashi Kant Sharma was born on 25 September 1952. He belongs to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Bihar Cadre, 1976 batch. Shri Shashi Kant Sharma served in various capacities, viz., Information and Technology Secretary of Government of India, Financial Services Secretary of Government of India and Defence Secretary of Government of India. Shri Shashi Kant Sharma was 12th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) and served during the period from 23 May 2013 to 24 September 2017. In July 2014, he assumed office as Member of the United Nations Board of Auditors and on 11 January 2017, Shri Shashi Kant Sharma took over as the Chairman of the United Nations Board of Auditors. Shri Shashi Kant Sharma was the 12th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) and served during the period from 23 May 2013 to 24 September 2017. In July 2014, he assumed office as Member of the United Nations Board of Auditors and on 11 January 2017, Shri Shashi Kant Sharma took over as the Chairman of the United Nations Board of Auditors. Shri Shashi Kant Sharma have B.Sc. degree from University of Allahabad, M.Sc. in Administrative Science and Development Problems from University of York and Master degree in Political Science from Agra University.

Vinod Rai

Shri Vinod Rai was born on 23 May 1948. He belongs to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Kerala Cadre, 1972 batch. Shri Vinod Rai served as Principal Secretary (Finance) of Government of Kerala and also served senior positions in the Ministries of Commerce and Defence, Government of India. Shri Vinod Rai became 11th Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) and assumed office on 7 January 2008 till 22 May 2013. Shri Vinod Rai was the Chairman of United Nations Panel of External Auditors and member of the Governing Board of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ITOSAI). Shri Vinod Rai holds a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Delhi and Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.

V N Kaul

Shri V.N. Kaul was born on 7 January 1943. He belongs to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre, 1965 batch. Shri V.N. V K Shunglu

Shri V.K. Shunglu belongs to Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre, 1962 batch. Shri V.K. Shunglu worked as Special Secretary in Power Ministry, Secretary in Health and Family Welfare, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion and as a member of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board.

Shri V.K. Shunglu became ninth Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) (after Independence) and assumed office on 15 March 1996 till 14 March 2002. Shri V.K. Shunglu graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and Master’s degree in History from the University of Delhi. Shri V.K. Shunglu was conferred the Padma Bhushan in 2019 for his contribution to the civil services.

C G Somiah
27 Mar 1990 – 11 Mar 1996

Shri C.G. Somiah was born on 11 March 1931. Shri C.G. Somiah first served as Assistant Commissioner in Orissa. Shri C.G. Somiah was deputed to the Central Government in New Delhi where he had an uninterrupted 15 year stint in various Bhavans (Government houses and offices) on Raisina Hill. He was the financial controller of the Asian Games organizing committee in the 1982 Asian Games held in New Delhi. In the year 1983, he was appointed as Secretary Department of Company Affairs and Chairman of the Company Law Board. He also served as Secretary of the Planning Commission and Home Secretary.

Shri C.G. Somiah sworn in by the President of India in March 1990 as Comptroller and Auditor General of India (C&AG) and assumed office on 27 January 1990 till 11 March 1996. Shri C.G. Somiah was the Chairman of Asian Organisation of Supreme Audit Institution (ASOSAI) between 1993 and 1996. He was also elected to the United Nations Board of Auditors for a three year term from July 1993. In January 1995, Shri C.G. Somiah became first Indian becoming the Chairman of the UN Board of Auditors. Autobiography of Shri C.G. Somiah ‘The honest always stand alone’ was launched by former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam in New Delhi on 15 July 2010. Shri C.G. Somiah was died on 13 September 2010 after a brief illness.

T N Chaturvedi

Shri Tirlok Nath Chaturvedi was born on 18 January 1929. Shri T.N. Chaturvedi became seventh Comptroller and Auditor General of India and served during the period from 27 March 1984 to 26 March 1990. Shri T.N. Chaturvedi became Government of Karnataka on 21 August 2002 and also became Government of Kerala from 25 February 2004. Shri T.N. Chaturvedi was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1991. Shri Shri T.N. Chaturvedi died on 05 January 2020.
